This glossary defines common terms and phrases that you should know when you're working in or referencing Salon Symphony.
Account Terms
Account Owner: The person who originally creates a Workspace for their organization, typically the salon owner. Account Owners have the highest permission level and are automatically granted Admin access.
Note: It's recommended that Account Owners create their Workspace on a desktop device.
Admins: People responsible for creating and managing content in a Workspace from the Admin Dashboard, typically managers. Admins can add and remove users, update permissions, and more. Currently, there is no limit to how many Admins you can invite to a given Workspace.
Note: Admins have access to both the Admin Dashboard and Mobile App.
Members: People added to your Workspace who interact and engage with your content via the Mobile App, such as staff and service providers. Members can submit surveys, send chats, RSVP to events, and more.
Note: Members have access to the Mobile App only.
Mobile App: The Salon Symphony Mobile App is used by everyone in a Workspace, including Admins and Members. Available for iPhone and Android.
Admin Dashboard: The desktop app used by Admins. Only people who are assigned an Admin role, such as salon owners and managers, can access the Admin Dashboard.
Note: The Admin Dashboard is best experienced on larger screens (ie. computers or laptops).
User: General term that refers to all people. Admins can add users to a Workspace by inviting them as either Admins or Members.
Roles: Users can be assigned one of two Roles, Admins or Members.
Note: Admins can always update a user's role from the Admin Dashboard.
Workspace: Another name for the organization’s entire account. In a Salon Symphony Workspace, teams can work together to communicate and collaborate more effectively.
Platform Terms
AWS: Amazon Web Services. We use AWS to host the Salon Symphony platform, providing end-to-end security and stability.
Software: Salon Symphony is more than an app – it's a robust, cloud-based software built specifically for the beauty industry.
iOS & Android: The Salon Symphony Mobile App is available for both iOS and Android devices.
Note: All users must be invited to join their team on Salon Symphony before they can log in or create an account.
Play Store & App Store: The Mobile App is available for download on the Play Store (for Android users) and the App Store (for iPhone users).
Note: All users must be invited to join their team on Salon Symphony before they can log in or create an account.
Availability: As of now, Salon Symphony is only available to users in the US and Canada.
Note: We are actively working to expand distribution internationally.
Subscription Terms
Stripe: Salon Symphony uses Stripe to process all payments and subscription fees securely.
Subscription: Another term for monthly service charge. Currently, Salon Symphony offers one subscription for $99 per month, which includes unlimited users and features.
Note: From the Admin Dashboard, Account Owners can manage their subscription under Settings » Billing.
Self-Service: Salon Symphony leverages a self-service subscription model, enabling customers to sign up 24/7 without the need of a sales agent.
Note: Personalized onboarding is available for a one-time fee.
SaaS: Software-as-a-service. Salon Symphony provides SaaS in the form of downloadable and cloud-based applications to businesses on a monthly subscription basis.
License: In exchange for a monthly fee, Salon Symphony offers a (SaaS) license to end users.
Branding Terms
Salon Symphony, Inc: The legal entity name. Salon Symphony, Inc. is a privately held Delaware C-Corporation.
Salon Symphony™: The registered trademark. The "Salon Symphony" mark was published by the USPTO on March 19, 2024 and is a registered trademark of Salon Symphony, Inc.
"SS": The abbreviation for Salon Symphony. While less common, you may find "SS" used for brevity in conversation or articles.
